But when a ransom note arrives after Stella goes missing and evidence is discovered that clearly implicates Kent, will Bonnie help him uncover the truth in time to save his career… and Stella’s life?

My Review

This is an enjoyable romantic mystery. It is a good venture into the realm of the motion picture industry in the 1940s. The characters are well drawn. There is an egotistical male star and an innocent and somewhat naive seamstress. While they are worlds apart, when the lead female star goes missing, they come together to solve the mystery. The plot is good but the solving of the mystery is mild and a bit anticlimactic. The only bit of danger in the plot turns out to have been added for a reason not associated with solving the mystery.

There is a very clear gospel message in this novel and we see how saving faith changes one's character and life. We also have an exploration of what is really important in life. Ultimately, this is a fun fairy tale like story. I have no idea what original fairy tale this is a retelling of since that information was not included in the edition I read.
