My Review

This is a touching novel about the ongoing friendships between three older women. Posti does a wonderful job of exploring relationships, the ups and downs of friendships and marriages. Lack of communication causes many problems in this novel. Humility and forgiveness are two essential traits highlighted in maintaining good relationships.

Another issue explored is being open to people who might make us uncomfortable. Being willing to help teens who age out of the foster system becomes a hot topic in the small town. We wonder if compassion or the “not in my back yard” attitude will prevail.

This is the third book in this series. It reads well but to really appreciate the ongoing relationships and attitudes of town residents, the previous novels should be read. This novel contains a clear gospel message as well as themes of relationship renewal, friendship support and second chance at romance.

I wrote “’Tis the Time, ‘Tis the Season” (third book in the “Next Act” series) for women in the second half of their lives – age 50 to 100 – who want characters they can relate to, women who are facing challenges and overcoming them – along with a mix of faith, fun, and later-in-life romance.

When the Lord gave me the idea for the first book in this series, I had no idea it would morph into a trilogy. That’s the way it is with our Lord. He lights our path, we keep walking.
