My Review:
When I started this novel, it felt like it was not the first in the series. Dawson has had recent damage to his knee, for example. While this is a new series, it builds on the characters from the Alaska Air One Rescue series. Faithful readers of Warren can just move on with known characters but new readers may be puzzled by characters having had previous, unknown adventures with ramifications here.
This novel is an inspirational romantic suspense with emphasis on the romance. Two people from different worlds are thrown together and romance is possible but the path is full of misunderstandings and obstacles. There is a very strong Christian faith message in this novel. Warren explores the themes of PTS and adoption (and giving a child up for adoption). There is also great support from Caspian, a wonderful canine.
The setting of Alaska is good. Dawson and Keely must struggle through tough weather elements while also staying away from bad guys. That means there is lots of suspense too. It was very interesting to read about a self contained community thriving in the frigid wilderness.
This is a touching novel and a good addition to the ones Warren has previously set in Alaska.
My rating: 4/5 stars.
