The Seven Step Guide to Authorpreneurship by Rochelle Carter

If you want to be a successful author today, Carter writes, you must be an authorpreneur – an author who is creative and a business person.

Not to worry, however, as Carter gives a practical plan to create the success of your book. She covers the entire process from writing to marketing with an eye to affordable ways to get it done.

Here are the steps she gives:
  1. Write and Polish Your Manuscript
  2. Create Your Business Plan
  3. Create Your Author Platform
  4. Engage Your Audience
  5. Get Ready to Launch
  6. Keep the Momentum
  7. Pay it Forward

It that seems like a lot of work, it is. Carter says it will take months to set up all the tools she recommends. But she gives precise step-by-step instructions throughout. For example, for the Digital Press Kit, she gives nine essential elements. Carter has included everything you need to know, including suggestions on costs. She has included Appendices with additional resources, including possible reviewers, promotion sites, etc.

This is a good book for an author who plans to self-publish or one who has had a book published but finds it is going nowhere. It is a book you will return to again and again.

You have to invest in yourself, she says. To sell your book you have to sell yourself. If you are committed and ready for hard work, this book will give you the path to a successfully written and marketed book.
