A Million Little Miracles by Mark Batterson Book Review

About the Book:

Think you’ve never experienced a miracle? With all due respect, you have never not. In fact, you are one!

There never has been—and there never will be—anyone else like you. That isn’t a testament to you. It’s a testament to the God who created you. Your fingerprint, eyeprint, and voiceprint are unlike anyone else’s. Simply put, you matter to God.

Most of us take everyday miracles for granted, including the one that stares back at us in the mirror. It’s time to take them for gratitude. Why is that so important? Because whatever you don’t turn into praise turns into pride. The miracle of life becomes mundane. We get so wrapped up in our own little world, we end up worshipping a god who looks like us, acts like us, and thinks like us.

It’s no wonder we’ve lost our wonder. But there is a way to recapture holy curiosity!

My Review:

Wow. This is a book every Christian could benefit from reading. We take so much for granted. We think life is mundane. “Miracles are happening all around us all the time,” Batterson writes. (xiii) We just need to live a life awake and attentive to what is really happening. God is present and all that is missing is our awareness of Him. Batterson encourages us to delight in all that is really happening, be it in nature, ourselves, in the spirit.

I am very impressed with this book. Batterson includes so many amazing facts and observations. As a Christian with a degree in physics, I really appreciate Batterson's take on science. Science serves to increase our wonder at the Creator, not deny His existence. (182)

Batterson encourages us to become like little children, as Jesus commanded, amazed at the wonder of what we see, hear, taste, and experience. Rather than taking life for granted, take it for gratitude, he writes, praising God along the way.

I highly recommend this book. It is really quite amazing and inspiring. Be aware of all God is doing and fall in love with Him all over again.

My rating: 5/5 stars.
