About the Book:
Cybersecurity queen Delilah Davis’s first field assignment should have been routine—run a system check in a dust-baked one-street town in West Texas, shake a few hands, and head back to HQ. But the locals are anything but friendly.
Then the phones go dead.
Every road out is blocked.
And armed men stand between them and escape.
Former Texas Ranger Zack Adam knows this isn’t random. Someone went to a lot of trouble to stop them from leaving—and his gut says Delilah’s notorious past is the reason.
If Zack can’t find a way out, the men hunting them won’t just tighten the noose around his neck—they’ll turn Delilah into their weapon.
They walked into a trap.
Now it’s a standoff.
My Review:
This is another good inspirational romantic suspense in the series. The first half of the book or so is mostly the thoughts of the main characters, Delilah and Zack. There is the possibility of suspense, however, and it finally materializes about half way through the book. Then the action starts and continues to the very end.
There is good character development as the plot develops. Delilah is supposed to be a desk person, with huge tech skills. She is excited to be in the field but then everything goes terribly wrong. Zack is a damaged man and he has to work hard at believing someone might actually love him. He is physically limited too, with a bum leg and hip. Forced to work together, we hope they can overcome their issues, avoid the bullets, and realize their attraction to each other.
Each book in the series focuses on a different person so each can be read relatively well as a stand alone. Another member of the Hightower team goes on assignment at the end of this novel so I'll be watching for the next in the series.
My rating: 4/5 stars.
About the Author:
Jorgia Yates writes swoony Christian Romantic Suspense with protective heroes and courageous heroines who constantly find themselves in sticky situations they need to shoot or smooch their way out of.
After meeting as two awkward teenagers in the nineties, Jorgia married the man her soul loved, and they have been blessed with two cherished children on the spectrum.
Due to pesky physical disabilities, Jorgia is limited in what she can do outside the home, so she lives vicariously through her characters' exciting adventures.
(My star ratings: 5-I love it, 4-I like it, 3-It's OK, 2-I don't like it, 1-I hate it.)
