Rodriguez
encourages believers to be ready for God to work in them. Like the man at the
pool of Bethesda, Jesus is calling you to get up and move. You may
feel paralyzed by your own thinking. Rodriguez wants to help you be
free from your paralysis because you are next.
I
like how Rodriguez uses biblical stories as examples for his
teaching. We might feel like Abraham, that we have been waiting
forever for what God promised. Like Jacob, we might feel like we are
being cheated. We might be focused on the past or our weakness, like
Gideon. We learn from Rahab that God can use us no matter our past.
Rodriguez
encourages us to understand that our past does not determine our
future. We must let go of our past to discover our identity within
the future God has for us. (87) Our circumstances do not define us.
God does. We must accept all that God has for us and break the cycle
of excuses. We must live by faith and get rid of the baggage of
failure. We must remember we are set free.
This
is a very encouraging book. You'll be reminded that it is not about
your ability but rather His anointing. It is not about your potential
but rather God's power. (119) You'll be encouraged to renew your
mind, to live in the reality God has for you and the purpose to which
you have been called. Unfortunately, there are no discussion
questions nor practical strategies included in the book. You'll
certainly be encouraged to move but it will be up to you to find out
what God has called you to and how to move in that calling.
