This
is a great ending to the Journey of the Heart series. In this last
episode, Fort Phil Kearny is in jeopardy. The Sioux Wars are getting
worse and warriors are near the fort. The future of the fort is
threatened. The Sioux attack a wood cutting party of soldiers,
killing some.
Within
the fort, Emmie and Isaac are engaged. She has not yet told him the
truth and just when she plans on doing so, disaster occurs to her
dear friend. Emmie is devastated and worse yet, she may have to keep
a promise she made that would make it impossible to marry Isaac.
There
is some great drama in this final episode. The Sioux have heightened
their attacks in the vicinity of the fort and every time soldiers go
out the women worry. Included in this final episode is frustrated
love and a possible tragic ending.
I
have enjoyed reading this series. I must admit that reading it in
episodes was not as pleasurable as reading a novel all in one
sitting. It was worth the wait each time, however.
