The Dark Pool by Ace Collins (In the President's Service: Episode 2)

Helen Meeker, special agent in the president's service, is my kind of heroine. In Date With Death, she had just foiled a plot to kill President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Churchill. But she has put her sister and her partner in danger. Will she be able to find them before it is too late?

And something else nefarious is going on in a basement laboratory in rural Illinois. Something evil is happening in the underground surgery.

Helen continues to be a draw for me. She is tough as nails, smarter than the guys, shoots with precision, and loves to drive fast. Oh, and she is beautiful too.

I grew up reading hard boiled detective novels and this fits the bill. Even the dialog reminds me of those worthy heroes from the 1940s. And the ending to this episode? I'm glad I've got the next one because we're left with Helen's life in jeopardy.

Ace Collins has written more than sixty books, many of them bestsellers.

Elk Lake Publishing, 78 pages. You can buy this episode here.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book from the publisher for the purpose of this review. The opinions expressed are my own.
