Stay in the Game by Joel Osteen

This is a small book but it is powerful. Osteen has packed it full of encouragement to get in the action and stay with it if you want to be all God meant you to be. Even if you get knocked down or get discouraged, be determined to continue. Help someone else as that will get your mind off your own pain.

Osteen reminds is that God is not going to get us out of every difficulty or keep us from every challenge. He allows us to face difficulties to increase our endurance. We need to shake off discouragement and self pity, dig in and press on. Osteen uses biblical stories, Scripture and personal experiences to illustrate his teaching.

There is one use of Scripture that puzzled me. Osteen writes, “Colossians 3:12 says, 'God has given us the power to endure whatever comes our way with a good attitude.'” (488/950) I can't find a translation even close to what Osteen indicates the verse says. There are other Scriptures from which one could draw that truth and I trust this is just a typo.

This is an encouraging book. Osteen is very enthusiastic in his teaching. We will have difficulties in this life and Osteen's encouragement will help us continue on the course.

Material in this book derived from the previously published books, The Power of I Am and Break Out!
