My Daily Pursuit by A W Tozer Compiled by James L Snyder

About the Book:

Daily Wisdom for a Fully Committed Walk with God

Thanks to this treasure trove of teachings from Tozer, you can spend an entire year learning to go deeper in your relationship with our Lord. Each of these 365 devotions includes a passage of Scripture, a short reading, a hymn verse, and a prayer.

As Tozer wrote, "The mightiest thought the mind can entertain is the thought of God, and the weightiest word in any language is its word for God." Let this great man of faith challenge your heart and mind to truer worship, greater faith, and a deeper passion for Christ.

My Review:

Tozer was a bold preacher of decades ago. His writing and speaking is not like pastors today. He was not afraid to point out errors in Christian practice and encourage believers to pursue God in the right direction and with passion. Here's an example: “God created you to worship Him, and when Fundamentalism lost her power to worship, she invented religious claptrap to make her happy.” (55) The reading continues with the encouragement to worship the living God as He desires. Some of the readings might seem a little harsh, such as Tozer recounting John Wesley's rather callous response to his wife's death. (325)

This devotional is a good way to get a daily dose of Tozer's no nonsense insights into what it means to be a Christian and pursue God in an ever growing relationship. Even if you have read all of Tozer's books, you will find new material here since these devotions come from audio recordings of his many speaking engagements.

You can read an excerpt here.

Note: This book is a hardcover reprint of a paperback edition originally released in 2014.

My rating:4/5 stars.
